Mike Auldridge : Resophonic Legend

Today we say goodbye to one of the pillars of the resophonic world. Mike Auldridge was the first person I heard play reso, and undoubtedly the sound that brought me to the instrument.  Mike's playing on 'Act Four' by The Seldom Scene was what caught my ear.

Thanks to a pair of fellow members of the 'nation, I learned fairly recently that the man who inspired me to take up the dobro in the '70s, along with many of us here, the great Mike Auldridge, who has been battling cancer -  had taken a major turn for the worse. "Dobro trio” CD by Mike Auldridge, Jerry Douglas and Rob Ickes

From the Jerry Douglas Bulletin Board:

An exciting project to watch for in 2013 is a “Dobro trio” CD by Mike Auldridge, Jerry Douglas and Rob Ickes. The forthcoming album, as yet untitled, was recorded in a number of sessions during 2012, when schedules allowed the three to converge and record together at a studio near Auldridge’s home in Silver Spring, Maryland.
