2 ea Tipton RT1 and RT2 are for sale on ebay. Use dobro as a search word and Musical Instruments as the category and the items show on the 3rd of 5 pages. If you're looking for one here might be a good opportunity. They seem to be relatively scarce.
I think what's going on here is Mr Tipton getting to a point that making the bars, and the cost of same, is out of whack. The price has to increase and this is just a way to see what the market says. Just plain good business. $75 for a bar? I guess I'm the only one on here that would pay it. I'm that comfortable with the RT1 in my hand. No I didn't say it makes me sound like AKSlider, or Jerry or Rob, but nothing else I've used comes close to the fit for me. :D
I understand everybody goes to ebay for a bargin. I'm looking for a product. :)

Based on the final prices of some ebay auctions, I'd disagree...I think a lot of folks use ebay like you do Preston...to find a particular item that is difficult or impossible to find elsewhere.
As far as 75 bucks a bar...lots of folks have been paying that for Scheerhorn stainless bars, right? I don't go through so many bars that paying that every year or two will kill me, but I'd rather pay less! ;-)
Lee.......I base my statement from the original puppose of ebay.......Get tid of surplus or "need no more" items, and the hopes of getting some return on what you're selling. What we have now is an evlolution of sorts. Now folks make their income from the site, so parameters have changed.
And $75 for a stainless is one thing, if that's what you want to use, for a chrome bar is a little different. I do think we had better condition ourselves to taller prices on each. It's coming right along with the gasoline price increase. Yeah, I'd rather pay less, but I really don't think that is going to be a choice. :( The cost of fuel is going to get us coming, and going. Or should I say, shipping and receiving.

I was reading an article yesterday about how a lot of e bay stuff has Buy It now prices. They were concerned that it may not remain a auction site and will become just a sales area.

I am too slow I guess. I looked and either they are gone or I am blind, or both.
Geaux Tigers
I'm blind. I found them.
Appears as though they are being auctioned by Mr. Tipton himself.
More than 5 days left on the auctions and already $40-50. We'll have to see how high they go. :?
Here is a link to an RT1
