Mike Auldridge's New Band
Roe Entertainment recently signed Patuxent recording artists, Darren
Beachley & Legends Of The Potomac, adding yet another nationally
touring bluegrass act to their already impressive family of clients.
“I was excited when I heard Darren had put a band together,” says Jim
Roe, owner of Roe Entertainment, “Then, when you see who’s in the band,
it just doesn’t get any better than that.”
Having spent the last three years touring with Doyle Lawson &
Quicksilver, Beachley (vocals, guitar) decided to strike out on his
own, inviting a host of accomplished bluegrass musicians to join him in
his new venture. Mike Auldridge (dobro, vocals), Tom Gray (bass),
Norman Wright (mandolin, vocals) and Mark Delaney (banjo, vocals) make
up the Legends of the Potomac band.
“These guys are fun, innovative and have a quite a bit of history
behind them,” Roe says. History is something they certainly do have.
Auldridge was a founding member of the Seldom Scene, as was Tom Gray,
who also played in the “classic” arrangement of the Country Gentlemen.
Delaney and Wright both spent time with the Country Gentlemen as well,
and Wright toured as a Bluegrass Cardinal.
“You take all the experience that is in this band, and really the
possibilities are endless,” Beachley says, “We cannot wait to get in
the studio and start recording.” The band is slated to head to the
studio in July 2009. The Legends will debut May 9 at the DC Bluegrass
Union’s spring concert in Falls Church, VA.
