I was going thru Elderly's string selection and noticed the bulk discount. For instance, EJ42's are $5.20 a set but 10 for $47.00, $4.70 a set, a nice 10% discount from their already low price. EXP42's are 9.55 for a set, but $8.55 apiece for 10 sets. GHS TS1600 are 6.40 a set but down to $5.80 a set when ordering 6 sets. Not all the different brands have volume discounting but the EJ42's and EXP42's offer nice discounts when ordering the 10 sets.

I've been looking for a new source for the GHS 1650s. Elderly doesn't show the right pack online. Maybe a typo with the SF1650 ( I think the semi flats are the 1600s). But the bulk price on those go up. That seems to be a typo too.

I just received my new batch of phosphor bronze strings from Just Strings, a dozen each of .016, .018, .028, .036, .046 and .056 for $48 shipping included. That's $4.00 / set to my door with nothing spent on gas! An extra .028 adds $.62 per set. Not bad.

Greg, are these comparing well, in tone, to the D'Addario J42's?

Greg - I used to do that exact same thing from JS. Would package the seats and put the in ziplock bags to keep fresh. I think I may go that route again soon with the GHS 1650 price increase at FQMS.
FWIW, all the strings I've tried out, the end of the winding on the 4th string on the Just String bulk stes end at the same place as the GHS 4ths. No other string I've tried ends there. In discussion with others, it was concluded that it is very likely that the Just Strings bulks are GHS.

Just placed an order $4.01 per set. When used to do this a number of years ago, I think it ended up at around $3.77 at the time. So the increase is not all that bad. Around 6% in 3 years or so.

MB, they sound like the GHS 1650 strings I normally use. If they are the same that's cool, I like them. Will, it's been a long time since I put on a set of J42's. but I would say they sound as good or better since I prefer the GHS. The difference is probably slight if any.
