I was reading some comments by Bobbe Seymour recently and he mentioned how some steel guitar makers were moving away from sand cast parts. It seems with the advent of CNC machines it is becoming as cost effective to have them machined from a block of metal as opposed to cast. When cut from a block of metal there's a complete uniformity of metal in the object being machined as opposed to air holes that might creep into the sand casting process. Has anybody investigated the idea of machining the #14 spider as opposed to sand cast?
