I'm just curious. For those of you who do some home recording. With all the professional players here and the rest of us not-so-professional players, when you are recording a song, how many takes does it take to get a final version that you are satified with? I know you don't have to get it all right the first time if you don't mind going back and patching in overdubs to clean things up a bit but that may be the second part of this question. Do you go back and patch it up or do you try to get it all in one take no matter how many times it takes? Usually, I can get a tune down pretty good but I usually choke up as soon as I hit the record button and can't get through it to save my life while the red light is on. Sometimes I can get it and other times I never can. The result is sometimes hours of recording over and over until I get a take with as few mistakes as possible. I never get it perfect but then again, I don't play for a living every night either. So it may have something to do with the level you are playing at and maybe not everyone would be comfortable discussing it but it really does take me some time to get something down and very rarely am I ever really satisfied with it. Am I trying to swim through mud by myself out here or are there others out there having the same issues I am having?
