Sweet Williams Ghost 1

3:59 minutes (9.13 MB)

Acoustic trio I play in just recorded a 5 song EP. Plying my Gold Tone PBSM. Not flashy bluegrass, but the tone turned out pretty well in this.

Morning Bugle-Orville Johnson

3:45 minutes (3.44 MB)

This is a John Hartford song I've always liked. Just made this track for fun. I played and sang everything, programmed the drums, played my Guernsey. Made one small lyric change (involving an instrument whose name ends with an "o") John wrote some mighty cool tunes. RIP pal...oj

Outta My Mind

0:52 minutes (1.61 MB)

Well... I have been lurking and trying to learn for 2 1/2 years so thought I would get brave and upload some audio. This tune is one that just came out when working on technique. If it resembles or badly mangles another tune I sincerely apologize. I call it Outta My mind because it came about as a result of noodling around (and I can't think of a real title right now).

For those interested in the technical aspects it was recorded using an Octava MK012 mic, Mackie board/pres into an RME digial audio card. I am playing a Fishook maple Reso (#65). The flaws in the recording are not the fault of the instrument or equipment. :)

Hope you enjoy this little tune. Critical feedback would be very much appreciated...

St. Pe's Lament

4:00 minutes (5.51 MB)

This tune is one that I wrote to back up a video for a powerpoint presentation in recognition of a good friend's body of work. He would be 'St. Pe' (prounounced, Saint Pay)

Since he is a biologist working in the marshes and bayous in South Louisiana, it's supposed to have sort of a down home feel. Picture scenes from an airboat or a pirogue in the swamp as you listen.

It was performed by my group, The Moss Pickers. Recording was done at 'The Music Shed' in New Orleans. The Engineer, Chris Finney had recorded Jerry D in the past and placed a Shure KSM 44 in front of me and told me that Jerry suggested that mic for recording Dobro. Who am I to argue with that? My job was clear; This is the best you're gonna do, so make it count. I couldn't blame the equipment for this one. The guitar I played is my Adams birch with Spruce top, set up by Tim Scheerhorn.

Sigmund - My little waltz

1:27 minutes (1.33 MB)

Merry Christmas & a Happy New Year to you all!

I'm Sigmund from Norway, and here is a short tune I wrote just to present myself.
I want to thank you all for giving me the inspiration to continue practicing. I've mainly been playing guitar for many years, lot's of rock'n roll for a long time, but since february this year I have tried to find my way around the dobro. I love this instrument and my guitars are getting more dusty every day:-)

I'm a humble rookie on the dobro and the tune is far from perfect. I will appreciate your comments.
I also play bass on the tune, and I couldn't resist it..I had to put on some strings..

The gear I'm using is a Gold Tone solid mahogany recorded with a cheap tube condensator mic "TSM MT47". I'm using Cubase essential and the strings are from IK Multimedia's Miroslav Philharmonik.

Rene - Snow Flurries

2:18 minutes (3.16 MB)

Merry Christmas to all. Here’s a  new piece that I recorded today and played on my old Italian ‘Fratelli Indelicato’ guitar. I set it up for lap style playing. Hope you like it.

Holiday Medley on Weissenborn (Linus & Lucy, The Holly & the Ivy, Little Drummer Boy)

2:11 minutes (2.99 MB)

I find Greg Booth's playing of seasonal music really inspiring (thanks Greg!). I'm pretty far from that level but I do have fun arranging tunes. Here's my version of Vince Guaraldi's classic Peanuts theme along with two Christmas carols. CGDGAD on the Bear Creek hollow neck Weissenborn.

Troy Brenningmeyer - Silent Night

Another test of the AKG C1000S Condensor Mic.

Troy Brenningmeyer - Oh Little Town Of Bethlehem
