I'll Be Home For Christmas
1:46 minutes (1.85 MB)
Merry Christmas from my home, Alaska! Here is my latest effort, a swinging rendition of I'll Be Home For Christmas. Joining me via the internet is my son Dan "band in a boy" Booth on bass and mandolin rhythm. The tuning is the one I've grown fond of, EBDGBD, although it definitely works in standard G tuning. Here is a little picture showing what things look like at home this time of year. Happy Holidays!

Here's a recording I made back in '06 that I posted on RN but is too big a file for the new site. I decreased the bit rate slightly to get it down to the 4 mb limit. This is a song written and recorded by Sam Bush and Bela Fleck which I adapted for the dobro in Gm tuning. Both B's are flattened to Bb. I played dobro and banjo and my son Dan recorded the bass and rhythm tracks. The song is interesting the way it changes to 6/8 time in the middle and then comes back to 2/4 bluegrass feel. I like the dobro / banjo harmony parts near the end. Signal chain is CS1000>Firebox interface>Cooledit.
EDITORS NOTE: The 4MB file limit is a hosting configuration issue and will hopefully be resolved soon.

Here's another Beatles tune using my W/S Elite 9520 and my EBDGBD tuning. I wish my son was still home to add a bass part, but for now it will have to stand alone. This is my last Beatles sound bite for now, next one will be a rippin' bluegrass tune!
Let me know what you think.

You're about to be inundated with Christmas music for the next six weeks or so: on the radio, at the stores, on TeeVee, at work....you'll probably even catch yourself humming Christmas tunes under your breath!! So, why not start with a bit o' Reso-Christmas music?
OK, here's my latest effort. My son Dan has just moved to the Bay area so sadly I couldn't have him play on it  , but he may be able to add his part soon. For now it will have to stand alone. This is my first recording using my ResoSummit overhauled Gibson Leadbetter, I'm pleased with the result. read more »
The Christmas Song revisited
3:35 minutes (2.46 MB)
I put this song up last year but recently re-recorded it for the Surreal Studios "Merry Christmas From Alaska" album benefitting Children's Hospital. It's a bit different than last year's version but very similar. My son Dan Booth is on acoustic bass. I'm working on a couple other Christmas tunes which I hope to post soon. Wishing all my ResoNation friends a very Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!

I really, really like Freddy's (eastfoldpicker) version of this Beatles song. His is better in many ways, but when I started playing with it in my altered tuning (G lowered to E) it fits pretty well. I played this for Mike Auldridge and he said "Man, I love what you're doing. You've got to record that!" That alone was worth my trip from Alaska! :D So here it is. Tuning is standard G with the low G dropped to E. There's a couple of behind the bar string pulls and a high chime at the end that only dogs can hear!
More Beatlemania: Here Comes the Sun

Here's a demo of the George Harrison tune that some of you may have seen already over at Rob Anderlik.com. I thought I'd post it now to add to the Beatlemania that Eastfoldpicker has started with his great clips of Eleanor Rigby and Something! This is not standard G tuning: EBDGBC#, key of A. :D
A new solo for Panhandle Rag...........
0:43 minutes (668.57 KB)
This is for all of you who aren't totally burned out yet on Panhandle Rag! It's been a while since I've put anything up here in the Sound Bites, been super busy with work. I recorded this last winter when I had more time and it's just been sitting waiting for me to do something with it. Work isn't letting up anytime soon, so I thought I'd share it. This is a demo of an improv, pull out all the stops type solo. It's a little busy, but,,,,,,,,,, Hope you like it.
Dobro track from new cd AKslider

My own recording projects are on hold while I record on an album of original mandolin instrumentals for a fellow Alaskan, Joe Page. Here is a dobro part all by itself. Feel free to critique......
